In the heart of Matera, lays the B&B “La casa di Ele” right next to the “Sassi”, a breathtaking UNESCO heritage.
“La casa di Ele” is an ancient residence of the 18th century, with sophisticated interiors. From its balconies you will appreciate a unique and beautiful view and enjoy yourself while having breakfast, an afternoon tea or simply taking spectacular pictures.
The memory of your stay will make a mark in your hearts.
“La casa di Ele” is located in the ancient quarter called Foggiali. This term refers to holes where wheat was stored.
A few steps away from the B&B, St. John the Baptist Square lays, one of the most fascinating and romantic small squares of Matera. Very characteristic is the Church of the same name formerly named “Santa Maria la Nuova” after the nuns who founded it in 1233 on their way back from the Holy Land.
“La casa di Ele” is part of a 18th century noble palace.
Its aristocratic owner, Appio Giuseppe, was born in 1723. He graduated in law, became a Magistrate and Supervisor of the Royal Tanunciane Schools, instituted after the expulsion of the Jesuits to provide the main cities of the Borbonic Reign with public education.
